![First panel
Text: Last spring I became very attached to the geese that live in my local park.
The drawing shows a greylag goose standing on some grass with water in the background.
Second panel
Text: Watching them go about their goose business every day became my escape from the pandemic.
A whole goose family is shown; a gosling is eating crumbs and one of the adult geese is HISSING.
Third panel
Text: Of course the geese can’t have known WHY their popularity skyrocketed. Or why, when the lockdown eased, fewer people came. Were they confused?
A goose is at the center of the panel, with a range of objects being thrown at it - bread, seeds, a flower. Phones and cameras are flashing. Wearing sunglasses, the goose looks smug - enjoying its celebrity status.
Fourth panel
Text: I still go and see the geese once in a while. They remind me that life just carries on, for them and for me.
A goose is again standing in a park. This time its back is turned to the observer, looking out at the water.](https://images.prismic.io/wellcomecollection/0c9e81eb-85d6-4ac4-9571-69b86111101e_wellcome_geese_full.jpg?w=1338&auto=compress%2Cformat&rect=&q=100)
