An appendix, or, Second part to the complete treatise on perspective; Containing a brief history of perspective, from the earliest and most authentic accounts of it, down to the eighteenth century, when it first began to flourish in England; in which the methods of practice, used by the ancients, are exemplisied and compared with those now in use. Military perspective; bird's eye views; &c. The appearances of ascending and descending on an upright plane; such deceptions in vision accounted for, and illustrated by stricking representations: with useful and critical remarks on round subjects in general. The application of perspective to scenery; also to a ship; and in landscape; projection on curved surfaces; with other distortions, or anamorphoses; inverse perspective. Also the doctrine of reflection on plane mirrours. And, lastly, it contains a parallel and criticism on all the English authors who have wrote treatises on perspective; and the principles of Dr. Brook Taylor's perspective compared with Guidus Ubaldus, and S'sgravesande.
