    peoples who have it may have derived it from the same source in the days of slavery in the Roman Empire. This collection of pedigrees, while mainly of Negro families, in cludes a few of East Indians from British Guiana. The racial crosses take a wider range, including American Indians, Chinese, Hawaiians, and other peoples. In a number of cases where quotations are made without any reference, these are taken directly from student papers. Much per sonal detail, such as names and ages, which are frequently given for purposes of identification, has been omitted in publication. Having recently covered the ground of human genetics compre hensively, 2 it will be necessary to refer only occasionally to this work, where of course much more information may be found on almost every topic.
