Eleventh, making the extension springSj which are attached by loops to the mainsprings, with slots working easily on guide pins or otherwise, so as to 5 automatically extend and contract by the motion of the body and become adjusted in length with the surface on which the impact conforming in length to the linear extension due to the flexure of the body and rendering the instru¬ ment relatively permanent while the attachment is adjustable. Twelfth, the apparatus herein described collectively in all its combinations 10 and connections, constructed and arranged as and for the purposes specified.
