The artist named as J. Williamson was presumably the John Williamson recorded as a portrait- and figure-painter in J. Johnson and A. Greutzner, The dictionary of British artists 1880-1940, Woodbridge, Suffolk, 1976. Between 1885 and 1895 he exhibited four works at the Royal Academy, one at the Royal Society of British Artists, and eleven at the Royal Scottish Academy.
