Description

This silent colour film opens with an intertitle on a door which opens to reveal an operation in progress. The opening credits are 'British Heart Foundation and Royal Veterinary College'. The film follows the pattern of the heart beating in the open chest, the heart being removed, the heart operating independently, an ECG, the heart in operation in the chest cavity with the ECG and stop watch in view.

Copy 1; the colour is stable but the film is warped. Copy 2; excellent condition (originally labelled Longmore 7 and Royal Society of Medicine Per 56973).
Mr. D. B. Longmore was Papworth Hospital's consultant in clinical physiology in 1968 when the first heart transplant was perfomed in the UK.
