Description
'Relasion y descripsion de las antiguedades se allan del tiempo de los Romanos en la cuidad de Tarragona ... 1711': collection of seventy descriptions of Roman monuments in Tarragona, Spain, mainly funerary inscriptions, but including also the Les Ferreres viaduct (no. 23) and the temple of Diana (nos. 64-65). With illustrations in ink and pink wash.

1 volume 1 volume: approx. 325 x 225 mm. 77 ff. (76-77 blank). Late 18th or early 19th-century marbled boards, with spine and corners in calf (much degraded). Armorial bookplate of Ditton Hall inside front cover.

Purchased at Sotheby's sale, 24 July 1919, part of lot 551 (acc.88182).
Biographical note
The author of this work is unidentified, but in view of the fact that English feet (pies Ingleses) are used throughout to indicate scale he was probably working for an English-speaking patron.
Ownership note
Formerly in the library of Lord Montagu of Beaulieu at Ditton Park, Bucks.
