Description

Hand surgery on the tendon shot in medium close-up. Patient is a child (patient details are on the film can). The consultant, Mr Richards, narrates the operation stage by stage. The hand and lower arm is immobilised. 3 months later, the patient has good movement in the hand which the patient illustrates by flexing his hand.

This film is marked 'master' and is mute (3735F has audio); this copy has intertitles and is complete barring lack of sound.
1 of 121 clinical cine films (1950s-80s) donated to the Wellcome Library by the former University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff University in 2013. The majority of the films were created by the college as part of their teaching activities with most dating from between 1950-80. There are a few earlier examples of films from elsewhere from the 1930s which were in distribution and were collected by the university.
