About this work
Description
Collection of notes on medicine, followed by medical receipts, etc.: in English. Rough pen-drawing of the geocentric Cosmos on verso of first leaf: on ll. 41-53 crude illustrations of urine flasks, some partly coloured. The first 55 ll. contain notes on medical astrology, urines, etc. The remainder of the volume consists of medical receipts and remedies, mostly by the same hand. In the lower margin of l. 182 'Gerard Jaques his book'. In this inscription the name 'John' which was apparently written first, has been struck through, and 'Gerard' written above it. On fol. 45v some scribblings including 'Ger. Jaques', 'James Jaques his booke': in the latter the name 'James' has perhaps been altered to 'John'.
