Prisoner or patient?.

Documentary looking at the question of mentally ill criminals and the ways in which they and their illnesses are treated. The camera crew visits Broadmoor and Park Lane Special Hospital and hear about the kind of problems and issues that can arise for patients and staff there. Concerns include the correct time to release a psychiatric patient with a violent background and when a patient is so psychotic that they are considered beyond treatment, as with the case of Denis Nielson. We also hear about people with more minor mental health problems, referred to as 'the inadequates,' who need support in the community rather than incarceration.
