    INFANT MORTALITY Of the eight infant deaths during the year, three were of premature infants; details are given below: Age i at death. Birth Weight. Cause of death. 1] I 2 minutes 2 lbse14 ozs. Prematurity. 2 > 17 hours 3 lbs. 2 ozs. Ancricephaly. 3) 1 21 hours 5 lbs0 5 ozs. Prematurity and Asphyxia neonatorum. 4) 1 1 day — Prematurity and pulmonary collapse. 3) 1 3 months •M* Asphyxia due to inhalation of stomach content. 6\ 1 3 months — Bilateral pneumonia. 7) 1 4 months - Meningitis - Hydrocephalus. 8) 1 6 months Broncho-pneumonia and gastro-enteritis. DEATHS. (General) The general death rate remains the same as last year and is slightly higher than the rates for both the county and country as a whole. Heart disease accounted for 59 of the total 165 deaths and 27 persons died from malignant disease; five of these latter were due to cancer of the lung and it is known that two of these were fairly heavy cigarette smokers, Approximately 33% of the total deaths occurred persons aged between 70 and 80 years and over 80 years of age. 19.k% in persons Causes of Death.
