About this work

Description

This shows a CT scan of a 5-year-old girl with a lung abscess and pleural effusion that developed as a complication of pneumonia. There is an abscess in the right lung with an associated air-fluid level (arrow). The abscess is thick walled and has a ragged cavity. There is also a small amount of pleural fluid present in the right lung. The left hemithorax appears normal.
