Description

Directed by photographer Anton Corbijn and based on Deborah Curtis's biography; this film looks at the life of singer Ian Curtis who fronted the band Joy Division but also battled with epilepsy and depression, eventually taking his own life in 1980. Beginning with Curtis's early life in 1970's Macclesfield, the film follows him through his experiments with drugs, the formation of band Warsaw which was to become Joy Division and its rise to success, the progression of his epilepsy, his relationships, the decline of his health both physical and mental and the night he hanged himself, aged just 23.
