    3 Balden cj* Burtenshaw s Furnace for Heating Ovens. in nearly a horizontal position, the furnace or sun being1 then lowered out of the oven; when to prevent the passage of cold air into or of steam escaping from the oven, it will be necessary to place a plate over the hole D, to be let into the rabbett by means of a peel and another plate upon the top of the sun, 5 so as to close the lower end of the cylindrical aperture from the passage of air or vapour. It may be necessary to say that this furnace must be worked with a common blower or a register having the oven door shut. Though these Drawings represent the furnace worked under the front part of the oven, I do not mean to confine myself to that particular situation, as I can work the 10 same contrivance in other places, either on or under the side or back of the oven, or wherever it is most convenient to be got at. In witness whereof, I have set my hand and seal, the Twenty-third day of December, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifteen. 15 JOHN BURTENSHAW. (l.s.) AND BE IT REMEMBERED, that on the same Twenty-third day of December, in the year above mentioned, the aforesaid John Burtenshaw came before our Lord the King in His Chancery, and acknowledged the Specifica¬ tion aforesaid, and all and everything therein contained, in form above written. 20 And also the Specification aforesaid was stamped according to the tenor of the Statute in that case made and provided.
