    The Trustees of the Fiske Fund, at the annual meeting of the Rhode Island Medical Society, held in Newport, July 11, 1860, announced that the premium of one hundred dollars offered by them on the following subject: The morbid effects of retention in the blood of the elements of the urinary secretion, had been awarded to the author of the dissertation bearing the motto— Prius cognoscere, dein sanare. And upon breaking the seal of the accompanying packet, they learned that the successful competitor was Wm. W. Morland, M. D., of Boston^ Mass. James H. Eldridge, M. D., East Greenwich, Charles W.
