Description

Dr A.I. Morris, Consultant physician and gastroenterologist, uses an endoscope to examine the inside of a patient's gastrointestinal tract. "Modern endoscopes have video chips and cameras at their end and the endoscopist spends his time manipulating the scope around the organ concerned while watching a superbly detailed television picture of the inside of the patient's gut" (Morris, in Midgley, loc. cit.)
