Description

Manuscripta medica. In German and Latin, by various hands. Fol. 37 contains a rough pen-drawing of a stamping mill. On the spine is a printed label: 'Manuscripta medica. P. XIII'. A collection mainly of medical and iatro-chemical receipts, with a few entries on alchemical subjects, together with original letters, some addressed to C. H. Flöhl, who is probably the compiler of this MS. The first 82 pp. + 3 ff. are by the same hand, perhaps that of Flöhl. The date 1777 is found on the verso of fol. 4. Fol. 10 is a printed broadside advertising the 'Universal Tictur' made by Anna Catharina Niedereggerin, with the 'Privilegium' of the Holy Roman Empire c. 1725?]. Fol. 33 is another printed broadside, dated Dresden 1703, with the same 'Privilegium', for the 'Nutz und Gebrauch des ... bewährt befundenen Spiritus Apoplectici Oleosorum' made by David Gottfried Reyher, Court Physician and Surgeon to the Imperial Court. Ff. 92, 93 Monte (S. V. or V. S. de) Tinctur auf Kupfer. Dated 31/12/1736. The initials are in a monogram. The writer describes himself as 'Castiliano'. The letters are as under: Ff. 6, 7 Eckert (Johann Corbinian) to Herr Rötter, dated Abensberg, 20/8/31. Refers to a treatment for gout. 43, 44 The same to the same, on alchemy, dated Abensberg, 14/10/1730. 95, 96 Incomplete letter from the same to the same. n.p. n.d. 23, 26 Lindenfels to Flöhl on alchemy, dated Hoff, 24/8/1734; 18/9/1734. 81, 82 Murmann (Franz Michael) to Johann Corbinian Eckert, on alchemy, dated Eichstadt, 8/2/1728. Produced in Wurz.

1 volume 1 l. + 82 pp. + 105 ff. folio. 36 × 20 cm. Original boards. Some leaves are damaged, and some items are incomplete. A foliation in pencil has been added for the unpaginated leaves.
