About this work

Description

L'abbregé d'ergothecnie. Illustrated with 3 folding leaves containing pen-drawings of chemical apparatus, and a folding table. The MS. appears to be a copy, or an abridgement, of the 'Abrégé des choses nécessaires au cours de la Chimie ... extrait de la Théotechnie Ergocosmique' Paris 1653. It treats of the preparation of various substances mainly for medical purposes [cf. Ferguson, 'Bibliotheca Chemica'. Vol. I, p. 73.]. On the verso of the second folding leaf (with illustrations of two furnaces) are notes on medical cases, dated 1651. On the last leaf are notes of chemical operations; the last, in pencil, is dated 15 July 1758.
