References note

The Glasgow Herald, 1 February 1969, p. 6 ("The ATV documentary "Woman of the month" shown on Channel 10 late on the same evening, conveyed with great insight, sensitivity and gentle humour just what old age means to those who are living it. Mrs Frances Bourne, aged 92, arthritic but otherwise in full possession of her faculties, and absolutely determined to keep her grip on life until the last, was shown in the setting of her own little home, dealing with housework, chatting to elderly friends, having a bit of a lie-down, going to an old folk's party. At intervals a doctor explained in simple terms the problems -- physical and mental -- of advancing age; and then Mrs Bourne took up her tale again, illustrating, all unaware, just what the medical man had been saying. This was a small gem of imaginative television; just a pity it was shown so late")
