About this work

Description

"This zine explores the social side of our distress: the ways in which our individual struggles are embedded within our wider culture, within our organisations and communities, and within our interpersonal relationships. Self-criticism is a key feature of most major mental health problems (depression, anxiety, psychotic experiences, addictions, etc.) It's also a major element of everyday forms of suffering (if we can even usefully distinguish these from mental health problems). Attending to the messages that we receive - and give out - at each of the different social levels of experience, we can see how these perpetuate self-criticism and distress in ourselves and others."--From introduction.
