Commanded Channel Squadron, 1895-1897; Senior Naval Lord of Admiralty, 1899-1904; Admiral of the Fleet, 1904. Roman Catholic convert, president of the Catholic Union of Great Britain 1917-1921. Portrayed standing with one foot outside the border of the lithograph, giving the impression of tallness (not confirmed elsewhere)
