About this work
Description
Advertising card for Tarrant's Seltzer Aperient (about 1880?). The aperient was sold as a bottle of white powder which produced 30 - 40 glasses of "foaming, sparkling Seltzer" when added to water to which was supposed to cure "headaches, constipation, indigestion and dyspepsia". This one shows a man with abundant moustaches in braces and blue and white striped trousers gesturing towards a bottle of the aperient on a small circular table in front of a fireplace.
