About this work

Description

The name of the hairdresser is "Plaisir", as indicated by his name on the shop fascia and in a cartouche giving also the address Rue de Richelieu 108 (which in 1809 was the address of a fashionable clothes shop called Vaulout and in 2010 was the headquarters of a property company called Groupe Altarea). "Plaisir" is presumably meant to indicate what his women customers obtain from his services
