Queen Charlotte, half-length portrayed as a sunburst within clouds, surrounded by Cupids holding a crown and garlands. The lettering mentions her patronage of botany: "Building on the development of Kew Gardens by her mother-in-law, Augusta, princess of Wales, she became a noted amateur botanist; John Stuart, third earl of Bute, dedicated to her his Botanical tables, published in 1785" (Oxford dictionary of national biography)
