About this work
Description
The tape contains three items. Firstly from the Ministry of Pensions, Roehampton Hospital, London, we are shown the importance of correct bandaging of an arm stump. We also see how a patient can learn to write using a pencil attached onto the stump and then footage of patients using artifial arms. The second item is of men with lower leg amputations exercising in a hospital garden. The final item is entitled Refuse Collection by London Dustmen and is from the Department of Applied Physiology, London School of Hygiene and Tripical Medicine, 1959. It shows refuse men at work collecting rubbish in Westminster and aims to demonstrate good and bad ways of lifting.
