Celluloid scientists, part 3. The corporate scientist.

This third programme in the series examines the ways in which science has been portrayed in a more general fashion in film. As new scientific research is undertaken, it provides the raw material for new films which often over dramatise the negative aspects, and play on our deepest fears. In the 50's, atomic energy, in the 60's, t̀he cold war', and space programmes. In the 70's, ecological disasters and fears over pollution. In the 80's , the Watergate scandal led the way for films about conspiracies, in the 90's, genetics and cloning. The programmes features clips from various films, such as The Andromeda Strain (1971), to illustate its points.
