Description
Arzneibuch: including a Herbal and a Distillatory.
Written in a small current script by several contemporary hands. Headings and paragraph marks in red, some in green ink.
The first preliminary leaf contains medical receipts in German.
Leaves 2-10 'Zuo lob und zuo er der aller reinigsten und vermayligsten Jungkfraw Maria heben sich an etlich lob gesangk in irrem nommen'. Verses in German in honour of the Virgin Mary.
11, 12 Similar verses in 107 lines, the beginning wanting, and written by a different hand. It ends: So mein hertz bricht / mein mundt nichs spricht Maria zeig dein lieblich gesiecht. Fiat. Fiat. Amen.
Leaf 13 'Ach got wem sall ichs klagen', and other verses.
14 Latin hymn to St. Francis, with musical notation: beginning 'Salue sanctissime confessor dei ac Vexillifer ihesu', and ending 'O pie o misericors pater sancte francisce'.
Leaves 15-20 Receipts in Latin for herbal syrups.

The first two unfoliated leaves at the end contain a 'Registrum seu inuentarium materie in hoc libello contente', folowed by 2 ll. of receipts. The last 3 ll. contain notes on 'Urina' 'Lac', 'Stercus', 'Sanguis', by the original scribe. Both fly-leaves contain medical receipts, etc. in German.
On the recto of the end leaf is the name 'Frater Panchratius de Hallis': above this are four contracted words which could possibly be expanded into 'Sui in Monasterio Brunne [Brünn]'. [Franciscans?].
