About this work
Description
A look at the pros and cons of G.P. fundholding, featuring two G.P.s, one a fundholder in a prosperous area of the country who is continually improving his service to patients, the other, who practises in a deprived inner-city environment, strongly opposed to fundholding. The inner-city doctor seems to be in a no-win situation; a housebound patient must wait weeks for physiotherapy - but, the doctor argues, fund-holding is no answer for a practice which must spread its resources thinly due to its high proportion of chronically ill and geriatric patients.
