About this work

Description

Transmission electron micrograph showing a relatively normal keratocyte from the mid corneal stroma with its typical elongate shape. The nucleus is irregular in shape (moving in and out of the plane of section). Lipid deposition is present as dispersed droplets amongst the collagen fibrils of the stromal lamellae. This is from the cornea of a patient with Reis-Buckler corneal dystrophy. This field is approximately 17 microns across.
