Scheffer, Henrik Theophil (1710-1759) & Bergman, Torbern Olof (1735-1784)

Fragment of an English translation of Scheffer's 'Essai sur l'art de la Teinture, commenté et developpé par T. Bergman', Paris. The first 6 ll. of this section contain 'Extracts from a Memoir upon the fuming [muriate?] of tin, or fuming liquor of Libavius' by Guillaume François Rouelle [1703-1770], written in 1770 as 'Observations chymiques sur la liqueur fumante de Libavius', and published in the 'Journal de l'Académie de Médicine' 1779, Vol. XLVIII, pp. 445-448. The second item [incomplete] is 'Experiments upon Vegetables ... by Mr Ingenhouz', a work published in 1779 by Jan Ingenhousz [1730-1799].

1 volume ff. 84-158 + 10 ll. 4to. 20 × 16 cm. Original boards, defective. Ff. 1-83. 86, 104, 107, 111, 112, 130, 131 wanting: lower half of Fol. 158 torn away. Of the 10 ll. at the other end of the volume, the end of the second work is wanting, and the lower half of the last leaf is torn away: the first leaf is stained.
