About this work

Description

A cross-section of pine stem has several concentric rings with distinct borders between each ring. The center of the stem is called pith. The many holes allow water to be carried throughout the plant. The stem comprises from the outside in the outgrowth, cortex, cambium, xylem and pith. The stem is from the branch of a pine tree, an evergreen, coniferous resinous tree. Cellular level art, paint on silk, digitised.
