    I am by no means of an Opinion that the Nightfhade will perfectly anfwer this De¬ fer ip tion, but in fome Inftances it approaches nearer to it than any other Medicine that I have ever feen given ; and it has been chiefly in fuch Cafes as I have juft repre- fented, namely, where the other Evacua¬ tions have not anfvvered, or could not be continued, and particularly where the Pa¬ tient has been at the fame time troubled with Pain in the Limbs, that the Night¬ fhade has had a good Effeft. In thefe Cafes, if the Medicine operates plentifully by Sweat, and without much Inconve¬ nience, as it will often do, the Dofe may be repeated every fecond, third, or fourth Night, and the Operation of the Medicine will probably be nearly the fame during fe- veral Weeks ufe of it. At the fame time if it keeps the Body lax, or if that EfFedt is produced by the help of other things, the Advantages may be more confiderable. The great Quantity of Urine which is fometimes difeharged even whilft the Medicine ope¬ rates profufely by Sweat, is like wife, I imagine, another ufeful Circumftance to- B Wards
