About this work
Description
Ned Sherrin's Production for Columbia: THE NATIONAL HEALTH screenplay by Peter Nichols, 13th March 1972, Virgin Film Productions Ltd.
Nichols' play of the same name was first produced in 1969 by the National Theatre at the Old Vic, London. This is the shooting script of his own film adaptation, which, directed by Jack Gold, appeared in 1973, starring Jim Dale, Bob Hoskins, Lynn Redgrave, Donald Sinden, Clive Swift, Mervyn Johns, Eleanor Bron, Gillian Barge, and Colin Blakely. It won the Evening Standard British Film Award for Best Comedy.
Preliminary note by Sherrin explains that "serial sequences", representing a "glamourised, T.V Fictional Romance", are typed on coloured paper, while "real hospital sequences" are printed on white.
