Description
During the Second World War, Sir Archibald McIndoe developed new techniques of plastic surgery and psychological counselling with RAF aircrews who had suffered severe burns through combat. The film explains McIndoe's work and approach to patients by means of interviews with hospital staff of the Royal Victoria Cottage Hospital in East Grinstead, Sussex and the pilots themselves. It includes shots of original colour photographs of patients before, during and after treatment together with film of men in the ward.
