IF there be any disorder, which, from the frequen- cy of its occurrence, and from the variety of forms, un- der which it is presented to the care of the surgeon, de- mands more than others his most minute and attentive investigation, in every part of its history and treatment; such, assuredly, is that which forms the subject of the following pages.
