![[ ] EXPERIMENT THE SIXTEENTH. A gallon of the water of A, boiled for a few minutes in an open veflel, became ochry throughout, as in the laft experiment. Being filtered, it was found incapable of producing any alte¬ ration in the infufion of litmus, or of fhewing any effect whatever with the tincture of galls, or Pruflian lime. The whole ochre collected by the filter prov¬ ed, when dried, to be ftrongly magnetic. EXPERIMENT THE SEVENTEENTH. Two quarts of the above filtered wa¬ ter were evaporated down to four ounces, without yielding a further depofition of any kind, the liquor, even when cooled, remaining perfectly tranfparent.
