Description
Men dressed in doublet and hose stand in groups outside a castle, some carry swords and one is attended by a falconer. Nagler (loc. cit.) reports the interpretation of Passavant (Venetian senators receive two Turkish envoys). For Andresen (loc. cit.) it appears to show the noble or man of rank in various nations: on the far right are the Venetian and the Genoese ambassadors who converse with three cavaliers. To the left of them are two Polish noblemen accompanied by a page armed with a battle-axe and a sword

Bears the monograms IA and VZ: the first letter of each monogram is in the bottom left section of the strapwork border, and the second letter is in the bottom right. IA is interpreted as indicating the authorship of Jost Amman. VZ is unidentified by Nagler (loc. cit.): he may have been the engraver of the strapwork
