Description

Barnwood House, a private asylum in Gloucester, was visited by Retreat staff on 6 November 1896. This visit is recorded, along with other copies of the photographs, in the General Committee Papers 1879-1901, RET 1/1/6/5/2. Photograph 1 shows a room with stage and chairs laid out. Photograph 2 shows a large hall, archways and staircase. Photograph 3 also shows the hall and staircase from a different position. Photograph 4 shows a sitting room or sitting area. Photograph 5 shows another sitting area with sofa and cushions. Photograph 6 shows part of a hall or large room arranged as a bowling alley.
