About this work

Description

The film presents everyday life at the Cassel, a psychiatric hospital in Surrey. No drugs are used there; therapy is by group discussions, one-to-one doctor-patient sessions and co-operation in the domestic running of the hospital. Taking responsibility for the good of the community is an integral part of treatment. The camera follows events; there is no voice-over and no interviews are set up."The Cassel" clearly displays the intense demands made upon patients and staff alike by this drug-free style of psychotherapy.
