Description

This programme is about Connie Jackson who lost 30 stone in 3 years following a stomach reduction operation. Connie's weight problems began when she was a young child. At 5-years-old she weighed 6 stone and by 7-years-old she was morbidly obese. By the time she was 36 she weighed over 40 stone, her life was at risk and she lost her fertility. After her stomach-reduction surgery she was left with 20 lbs of loose flesh hanging from her torso, arms and legs. This programme follows her as she embarks on a programme of extreme reconstructive surgery to remove the excess skin. Surgeon Timothy Katzen specialises in such surgery and operates on her torso and thighs. Following her leg surgery she develops a skin infection and is seriously ill so that some weeks later when she travels to the UK to see surgeon Paul Harris to remove the excess skin from her arms and to enhance her breasts he refuses on the grounds that she is not physically strong enough.
