The shorter catechism of the Reverend Assembly of Divines, with proofs thereof out of the scriptures in words at length. Which are either some of the former Quoted Places, or others, gathered from their other Writings: All fitted, both for Brevity and Clearness, to this their Form of Sound Words. For the Benefit of Christians in general, and of Youth and Children in Understanding in Particular; that they may with more Ease Acquaint themselves with the Truth, according to the Scriptures, and with the Scriptures themselves.

Two short catechisms mutually connected the questions of the former being generally supposed and omitted in the latter. The former contains the most of what is absolutely necessary to be known, in order to salvation; and may be taught children before they can read. The latter contains the most of what is necessary to be known, in order to admission to the Lord's table; and being a brief explication of the Assembly's Shorter Catechism, frequently in almost the express words thereof, may be learned along with, or immediately after it.
