Description

7 and 14 September, 1942, two letters from Thomas W Farmer to J A Hill. "In reply to your letter of the 3rd inst. the following is a short, tho' incomplete, sketch of Cooper history as narrated to me by my father Thomas Cooper Farmer about 40 years ago" (7 September). The letter of 14 September returns to Hill "the rough copy of the Cooper genealogical tree, so far as you've been able to uproot it, together with the photo of the old Cooper Cottage at Longmeadow End...." (genealogical tree not present).

With an envelope marked "With Care - Photographs" addressed to J A Hill (Secretary), a number of b/w photographs of the Company Centenary celebrations of 1943, together with a number of Cooper family related photographs, some annotated verso (e.g. "Barrow Street, Much Wenlock, Salop, the street in which Henry Cooper lived after his marriage and where Willliam Farmer Cooper and Richard Powell Cooper were born"), and several photographs of Clunbury Church. Also, a small studio photograph of Sir Richard Ashmole Cooper and his sister as children (annotated verso).

Also, two notebook sheets with entries from 1869-1870, with a note attached: "These two sheets from old Mr William Cooper's notebook (evidently) were found in the envelope containing the Sales figures for 1902".

Berkhamsted St Peter & All Saints Parochial Review, Vol 85, No. 7 ( July 1962), including marked parargraphs (p. 7) referring to the purchase by William Cooper, in 1853, of meadowland in Raven's Lane from Frederick Miller.
