Description
Letter from explorer Heinrich (Henry) Barth to Galton. Barth sends his condolences following the death of the wife of the Bishop of Sierra Leone [Catherine Butler, wife of Bishop John Bowen, who died in childbirth on 4 August 1858]. He also mentions his intended journey to Vienna and Constantinople [Istanbul], and is interested in the progress of David Livingstone's expedition up the Zambezi river.
