Description

Manuscript and typescript letters. Letters concerning his written articles e.g. one on totemism which he wants Galton to read. Copy of Galton's reply on phratries amongst Australian tribes (1887). Copy of a typescript letter from Charles Hose to Professor Haddon dated 26 August 1897 discussing arrangements made for him to visit Borneo. Congratulations on receiving the Darwin Medal from the Royal Society (1902). Pamphlet Questions on the Customs, Beliefs, and Languages of Savages by J G Frazer (Cambridge, 1907). Hopes to establish a fund for sending anthropological expeditions to collect information about indigenous peoples. Thanks Galton for sending his Memoirs. Notes that he was working on a book on totemism and exogamy based on known facts arranged ethnographically. Congratulations on new honour (1909).
