Biographical note

No. 6 This is written by a different hand, possibly by the writer of the note on fol. 2 dated 1626, whose name apears to be 'Charles Huplein, Modansis'. 11 This does not appear to be the Commentary usually ascribed to Hortulanus. 12 The attribution of this work to Bernhardus Trevisanus is conjectual. 13 In Wickersheimer's 'Dictionnaire biographique' Vol. II, p. 771 is an entry of 'Valrand Du Busrobert' extracted from the Archives d'Amiens under dates 1496-1502. 15 This short tract is possibly a version of the 'Rosarius abbreviatus' by John Dastin, discussed by Thorndike in his History of Magic and Experimental Science Vol. III, pp. 94, 95. Another version in Spanish is recorded in W. J. Wilson's 'Catalogue of Alchemical MSS.' ('Osiris' Vol VI, p. 409), where it seems to be ascribed to Arnoldus de Villanova in the original text, though this may only indicate that Arnoldus was the translator.
