Photograph of a cast of the mandible from a titanothere (large hoofed mammal from the Eocene Epoch) showing evidence of an alveolar abscess. The original mandible was held by the Academy of Sciences, Washington. The cast was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum as part of the Roy Moodie Collection and accessioned in 1939 (accession number R725/1939).
