Description
Photograph of a Peruvian Incan skull showing the marks of trephinning. The skull was obtained in Peru in 1865 by Ephraim George Squier and is now held by the American Museum of Ancient History. The skull is thought to date from between 1400 and 1530. The photograph was reproduced in Muniz, Manuel Antonio: "Primitive Trephining in Peru", extract from the Sixteenth Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology, Washington: Govt. Print.
