About this work
Description
Pontecorvo explains how he does not agree with Hayes's view on "equating classical genetics with the study of the distribution of genes and molecular genetics with the study of their auto and heterocatalytic properties underlying the molecular basis of life". Pontecorvo believed that for Hayes to reach this conclusion he must have "ignored" Hermann Joseph Muller's development of ideas on "informal" genetics and of his contribution to genetics as a whole and sends him some of Muller's reprints so that he can find out.
