Manuscript letter, dated 18 Jul 1872, pasted into The Canarian, or, book of the Conquest and conversion of the Canarians in the year 1402 by Jean de Bethencourt, translated and edited by Richard Henry Major, London: printed for the Hakluyt Society, 1872 (GL 509). Major conveyed a message from d'Avezae.
Manuscript letter, dated 23 Jan 1874, pasted into the front cover of The Voyages of the Venetian Brothers Nicolo and Antonio Zeno to the Northern Seas, in the 14th century comprising the latest known accounts of The Lost Colony of Greenland; and of The Northmen in America before Columbus by Richard Henry Major, London: printed for the Hakluyt Society, 1873 (GL 654). Major wondered what Galton would think of his book.
Manuscript note, dated 4 Dec 1931, pasted into front of Correspondance inédite de Condorcet et de Turgot 1770-1779 by M Charles Henry, Paris: Charavay Frères Éditeurs, 1883 (GL 78). Note stated that the library of French books belonged to J H Taylor of Hampstead.
