Biographical note
Maria Theresa Earle (1836–1925) (née Villiers) was a horticulturist. Encouraged by her niece, Constance Lytton, she wrote Pot pouri from a Surrey garden1897, which was an instant success. Emily Lytton married Edwin Lutyens in 1897.
